My name is Bryn Jones and I have worked in and around Business Management,Operational Organisation and Executive Mentoring for most of my working career. The items that I post will be of a general nature , however they will still offer food for thought when it comes to working more effectively, efficiently and not quite so hard.
A common term I hear when doing business reviews is that "we cant spend the time to review because we are all so busy" , now this may be a legitimate position , but in my experience only about 5% of businesses are actually "busy".
Most times its the employees who are busy simply because the process v's people v's product structure needs some work. That is either the processes are NOT supporting the people or the people are NOT supporting the processes and the product isn't performing as required. Its simple really!
(Just a short note here, the product isn't the thing you sell, its the entire , end to end experience of your client. its goes from the person who answers the phone all the way through your manufacturing, distribution, packaging,reselling,storage,sales,accounts ,support and of course item performance. These days the product you sell is your entire business not just that widget that your salespeople offer in the market.)
So why don't mangers and owners do something about it? Well, have you ever heard the saying " cant see the wood for the trees"?
This is a common situation, it can be very difficult to focus on the key areas of the business when you are actually working in it, That's where an external business review can make such a big difference....................
